Grown from the same ground
Two farms on the shores of Nnalubaale, and previously two companies. Ntakye Farm at Busoke is one of Kijiko’s affiliate agribusinesses, with shared ownership and personnel. Today the work of both lives in one portfolio, carried forward by Kijiko.
How Kijiko and Ntakye fit together
Two lakeshore farms, two names, one story. Kijiko is the operating organisation. Ntakye at Busoke built a decade of agribusiness and now holds the assets. The work of both moves forward together.
Kijiko Conservation Ltd
Established 2009 on the Nnalubaale shore. Owns and delivers the programmes, projects and partnerships across both farms under its four pillars: Agroforestry & Ecosystem Restoration, Biochar & Bio-fertilizer R&D, Regenerative Agriculture, and Agritourism, Recreation & Learning.
Ntakye Holdings Ltd
Established 2015 under the same ownership as Kijiko. A decade of integrated agribusiness, from dairy and Robusta coffee to cuniculture, organic fertiliser and solar-powered equipment. Today primarily an asset-holding company, with Ntakye Farm at Busoke among the assets it holds. Its name stays on the projects it delivered.
Ntakye Farm, Busoke
Forty acres at Busoke, Mpunge Parish, on the shores of Nnalubaale: banana and irrigated Robusta coffee, dairy, rabbit production and organic fertiliser facilities. The farm continues day to day, and it is not going anywhere.
The work flows both ways across the landscape: Kijiko programmes draw on both farms, and everything that happens on them sits within the Kijiko umbrella.
How we credit the work
Every project in the portfolio keeps the name of the organisation that delivered it. Nothing is rebranded and nothing is lost. Two labels tell the story at a glance:
Ntakye legacy Projects and partnerships delivered by Ntakye over the years. They remain credited to Ntakye and now sit within the Kijiko portfolio as part of one body of work.
Kijiko Current and future work across the landscape, owned and delivered by Kijiko under its four pillars.
The Ntakye legacy
Solar-powered milking machines: the SEFFA pilot
Building on eight years in dairy, Ntakye piloted solar-powered cow milking machines on eight demonstration farms across seven districts of central and southwestern Uganda. Backed by SNV through the SEFFA (Sustainable Energy for Smallholder Farmers) Innovation Fund.
Solar-powered knapsack sprayers: PUSE flagship
The flagship of Ntakye’s Productive Use of Solar Energy (PUSE) business unit: battery-operated sprayers with integrated solar panels, chargeable from mains or sun, piloted with smallholder farmers as a clean alternative to manual and petrol-driven spraying. Backed by KCIC under its PUSE programme.
Integrated agribusiness at Busoke
Seventeen acres of irrigated Robusta coffee intercropped with banana, dairy, commercial rabbit production and organic fertiliser and pesticide made from rabbit manure in a zero-waste cycle. A USADF grant recipient.
Consultancy, out-growers and farmer training
Project research, design and implementation for development partners, and an out-grower network focused on youth and women, building smallholder capacity in cuniculture, organic farming and integrated farm management.
The story continues under Kijiko: current and future work across the landscape, from the SINTEF Energi biochar research to agroforestry and restoration, is owned and delivered by Kijiko under its four pillars.

Two names, one story
Kijiko Conservation and Ntakye are two farms on the shores of Nnalubaale, grown from the same ground and under the same ownership. Ntakye Holdings today holds the land and assets of Ntakye Farm at Busoke, while Kijiko owns and delivers the programmes and partnerships that run across both. The projects Ntakye delivered over the years remain credited to Ntakye and now sit within the Kijiko portfolio. The work of both organisations is one story.
